Equitable Access
to Healthcare

Merced County faces a staggering lack of basic medical care. There are two local hospitals, within 40 miles of each other, neither with adequate critical care facilities nor staffing to provide acute care in times of emergencies. Limited medical services are provided at rural community clinics with limited cultural and linguistic sensitivity and resources.

Our commitment

CFMC stands with Merced County residents in advocating for equitable access to health care, and connecting local partners with state and federal resources that ensure residents experience meaningful changes in health care.

ACE Overcomers

CFMC recognizes the crucial role of mental wellness in the physical health of Merced County residents. To further the community's resources, we’ve partnered with ACE Overcomers. ACE Overcomers' mission is to break the generational cycle of child abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction (ACEs).

  • By ensuring every man, woman, and child has a fair chance of living healthy and productive lives, ACE Overcomers is a vital resource. They achieve this by helping individuals, parents, and organizations understand and overcome the effects of trauma through evidence-based classes and curricula.

Through this partnership, Merced County residents can build physical and mental resiliency. In a recent UC Merced study, Dr. Linda D. Cameron, Dr. Paul Carroll, and William Hamilton, B. A. determined that “empirical evidence for the efficacy of ACE Overcomers in improving emotion regulation skills, psychological resilience, and well-being, quality of life, illness days, and somatic symptoms” was present in the 12-week program. Our foundation is committed to investing in mental and physical health services that positively impact Merced County residents through proven best practices.
